First, the stories
We begin in Grand Junction and the Grand Valley. Wider Western Slope coverage, then additional Colorado communities, will follow our ability to research a place well. Growth will not be driven by the opportunity to fill search keywords. Today, Boxcar is an editorial guide: a place to learn about local history, landscapes, communities, and ways to experience the region thoughtfully.
Our name draws on the idea of a boxcar carrying something between places. The boxcar on our homepage is an imagined, AI-created scene—a surreal brand motif, not a real object in Colorado National Monument.
A future idea, approached carefully
We are exploring a future local gift-card discovery platform. No gift cards are currently available, and no participating businesses or commercial arrangements are announced here. Any future offering will be a separate phase with its own agreements, approvals, and clear terms.
Independent, curious, accountable
We link to authoritative research, distinguish suggestions from facts, and welcome corrections. Our features are desk-researched introductions approved for publication by the project owner, not claims of firsthand reporting or independent expert certification. We aim to develop original features that explain causes, consequences, and connections across geology, history, agriculture, water, and community. Historical coverage must include Indigenous perspectives and continued presence, not use Indigenous history as a prologue. We do not imply endorsement by the organizations we cite.
OUR EDITORIAL STANDARDS ↗We’d like to hear what you think readers should understand about the region. Reaching out does not establish a partnership.
